A quick week together! Next week will be our last full one of the year, with plenty to do to prepare for the final. Here's what we did today in class:

News Brief: Yanuel had the news brief today, but was absent, so I filled in and selected an article about this story to talk about: BBC.com - Europe flooding: Five dead as waters rise in Germany and France. We found France in the world map packet and talked about this story, as torrential rains have hit Europe this week. I also noted that the forecast is for 102 degrees in Portland this weekend. Uh... that is seriously not normal. It's not even summer yet!
We also watched the one minute BBC World News update. Here's the link to see the latest one minute update, at any time of day (it will probably be different from what we watched in class):

Finish Promises: Next, we kept watching the Promises (2001) documentary, about Israeli and Palestinian children. Here's a link to the note taking guide we are filling out as we watch:

I'm going to keep it simple and have students just focus on this. You should already know what learning targets you need to work on. Use the chart at the top of the second page to focus your writing/speech notes on the specific issues in the conflict.
